France: WFTU General Secretary participates in the 21st Congress of the UD CGT 94

This Thursday, May 27, the general secretary of the WFTU, George Mavrikos, spoke virtually before the 21st Congress of the UD CGT 94 of France, in the region of Val-de-Marne.

During his speech, c. Mavrikos spoke of the international scene, with the new antagonisms between the imperialist powers as well as the repercussions of these on the world working class.

He also pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic has once again exposed the contradictions of the capitalist system, posing new challenges for workers around the world.

In this sense, the general secretary of the WFTU highlighted the two lines in constant conflict within the international trade union movement, i.e. between class collaboration and class struggle. In addition, he congratulated the comrades of France for their struggles which give hope around the world and he launched an internationalist appeal to the militants of the class-oriented trade union movement to strengthen internationalism and coordination of anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist forces.

The event ended with the reiteration by the participants of their attachment to the just Palestinian cause and to the international campaign of the WFTU in solidarity and relief to the Palestinian people.
