Hard Road Closure Due to Downed Power Poles

WHAT: Hard Road Closure Due to Downed Power Poles

WHEN: Currently, Aug. 19

WHERE: Mojave Drive Between La Paz Drive & 6th Street. Access to Del Rey Drive, Del Norte Drive, and Tatum Road Restricted to Residents Only.

DESCRIPTION: A truck traveling Mojave Drive caught power lines and pulled down four power poles resulting in temporary loss of electrical power to approximately 70 houses in the area south of Mojave Drive near Del Rey Drive.

A hard road closure is in place on Mojave Drive between La Paz Drive and 6th Street with no traffic permitted to travel in either direction. Additional closures are in place on Del Rey Drive, Del Norte Drive, and Tatum Road with access restricted to residents only.

Current estimates are that electrical power could be restored to houses in the affected area at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning at the earliest.

Personnel from the Victorville Fire Department, Police Department, Code Compliance, Public Works and Building Department responded to this incident along with AMR and representatives from Southern California Edison, Spectrum, and Charter Communications.

City personnel are going door-to-door to homes in the affected area to perform welfare checks with residents.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to avoid the area if possible. Those who must travel in the vicinity are advised to use extreme caution and to obey all posted traffic signs, devices, and personnel. Delays are expected.
