TITANS Detectives Arrest Drug Felon Zantaun Horton for Friday Night's Critical Shooting on 38th Ave

TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) detectives Tuesday night apprehended a convicted felon on probation in connection with the July 1 drug-related shooting on 38th Avenue North at John L. Driver Avenue that left the 35-year-old victim critically wounded.

Zantaun Horton, 31, who was wanted on charges of attempted murder and gun possession by a convicted felon, was seen Tuesday night leaving 305 W. Monticello Avenue and entering a 2021 Dodge Challenger. TITANS detectives stopped the car and arrested Horton near the intersection of Gallatin Pike North and Old Hickory Boulevard. He was in possession of $1,585 cash, a digital scale, and the keys to the residence at 305 W. Monticello.

During the execution of a search warrant at the home, detectives recovered an AR pistol, a .40 caliber pistol reported stolen in Rutherford County, a nine-millimeter pistol, a set of body armor, 102 grams of cocaine laced with fentanyl, 322 grams of meth, multiple digital scales, and multiple boxes of ammunition.

Horton refused to be interviewed at police headquarters. In addition to attempted murder and gun possession by a convicted felon, TITANS detectives charged him with seven additional drug and gun counts. His total bond is set at $752,000.

Horton was convicted of felony cocaine possession in 2012 (three-year sentence), felony cocaine possession in 2014 (nine-year sentence), and aggravated assault in 2022 (two-year sentence).

Investigation by Violent Crimes Division Detective Jonathan Watch led to the issuance of the attempted murder warrant for last Friday night's shooting.
