President Ashraf Ghani in a met with members Kandahar provincial council today, and discussed the peace process, launching Master's degree program in Kandahar University and its further development, improvement of healthcare services, solving security issues particularly in border districts, and addressing challenges of female prisoners.
The president discussed his earlier visit to the residence of Ahamd Shah Baba and committed to restore that historical place like Salam Khana, which is situated at the Presidential Palace. He also instructed the Kandahar governor to take steps in further developing the city of Kandahar.
President Ghani underscored that the challenges faced by female prisoners will be addressed in consultation with the relevant institutions and in line with the enforced laws of the country.
The president issued directive to Ministry of Interior to consult provincial council members and present their recommendations and plans to improve security at border districts of Kandahar.
President Ghani highlighted that the government is pursuing the peace process based on the mandate given at Consultative Loya Jirga on Peace in an effort to reach an agreement on a peace framework as soon as possible.
He also ordered the MoI authorities and governor of Kandahar to facilitate distribution of land to the families of martyrs, particularly those of Afghanistan National Defense and Security forces.
