Dallas - On April 8, 2024, NOAA, NASA, and NSF will host "Sun, Moon, and You: Dallas Cotton Bowl Solar Eclipse" at the Cotton Bowl stadium in Fair Park. This free event begins at 9:30 a.m. and has a packed programming schedule full of amazing guests until the eclipse happens at 2 p.m. Guests include scientific speakers, astronomer Amy Mainzer, and the PBS series Ready, Jet, Go! with the Ready Jet Go band to help understand and anticipate the eclipse in real time. District 7 Council Member Adam Bazaldua has been confirmed to give opening remarks, and special guest speaker Neil deGrasse Tyson will have a programming spot at the event!

Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. to allow residents time to visit booths and exhibits, which will include hands-on activities and take-home handouts. Solar eclipse glasses will be provided while supplies last. The partial solar eclipse begins at 12:23 p.m. local time (CST) and lasts until 3:02 p.m. Totality (when the entire Sun is covered!) begins at 1:40 p.m. and ends at 1:44 p.m.

"This is an incredibly exciting event not only for Dallas, but District 7 and Fair Park as a whole. This event is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I can't wait to see the hard work that has been poured into this event come to fruition," said Council Member Adam Bazaldua.
