Magadan rescuers on high alert

The forces and facilities of the Emergency Ministry in Magadan are on high alert due to heavy snowfalls and high winds which are going to stay in the region for another couple of days, weather service says. A post of the Emergency Ministry has been deployed on the most dangerous section of road Magadan - Balagannoye - Talon, on Magadansky pass. There is a warming center, a truck and a snowmobile. Rescuers are on round-the-clock duty in the center of the city and its exits.

Rescuers of the Magadan branch of the Far Eastern Regional SAR Unit working on Magadansky pass have all necessary equipment and gears to help stranded drivers and are going to stay there until the weather gets better.

The territorial highway is closed. Equipment of local services is being used to clear it.

The cyclone rolling along the shore of the Sea of Okhotsk peacked last night and is now getting weaker.

The Magadan Airport and sea port operate normally.
