Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman Visits Atlanta

Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman traveled to Atlanta, Georgia from March 26-27 to attend the Atlanta Phambili: A Trade & Investment Gateway to Africa & South Africa event, highlighting the economic relationship between the United States and Africa. The event launched the economic pillar of the U.S. Mission in South Africa's Atlanta Phambili initiative, which aims to develop new investment opportunities for American and African businesses.

During the Atlanta Phambili event, co-organized by USAID's Prosper Africa Initiative and the U.S. Mission to South Africa, Deputy Administrator Coleman participated in an investment-focused roundtable. During the event, the Deputy Administrator emphasized the vast potential for economic growth on the continent, the need to mobilize private capital to advance Africa's continued transformation, and the work Prosper Africa has done to increase the visibility of African businesses for U.S.-based investors.

The Deputy Administrator gave the keynote speech at the Trade and Innovation Forum where she launched the Africa Trade Desk, a signature trade platform from Prosper Africa that links large U.S. food retailers to African producers. Deputy Administrator Coleman highlighted the Biden Administration's efforts to increase partnership and mutual prosperity with African partners.
