Supporting Houston's clean energy transition

About

With the advent of the first Houston Climate Week, Mauricio sits down with Mayor Sylvester Turner and Atul Arya, Chief Energy Strategist at IHS Markit, to discuss Houston's recently launched Climate Action Plan and the city's transition from Energy Capital of the World to Renewable Energy Capital of the World. In acknowledging our strong partnership with the City of Houston, Mauricio expressed his support of the city's initiative, 'We share the vision that Mayor Turner has articulated in his Climate Action Plan. We have been a long-standing partner of the city, serving as the city's electricity plan provider since 2001, as a partner in supporting our shared community, and we are proud to be a part of the city's energy transition.' As a partner in the city's transition to 100% renewable, Mayor Turner emphasized that NRG and other organizations will play a key role in achieving Houston's climate commitment, 'It's a very ambitious [climate action] plan, but the City of Houston, the municipality, can't do it by itself. That's why it is so critically important that we have partners like NRG as well as the support of strong advocates and corporate leaders to find winning solutions.'
