LONDON. 425 Oxford Street, a prestigious office building in London's West End, is being restored. The ground floor will be occupied by a world-class flagship store of a manufacturer of sports goods. A team of well-known architects, consultants, and contractors, including PLP Architecture, Arup, Arcadis, Szerelmey, and Ramboll, want to have the building ready by early 2019. The fireproofing of the facade was a particular challenge in the refurbishment. At certain points not much space is available in the facade and a thin fire-protection material was essential that would not, however, compromise insulation performance. The choice therefore fell on CALOSTAT®. 'Our team gave the planners expert advice and so contributed to the success of the project,' says Tobias Wild-Blatt, technical sales manager at Evonik, with obvious satisfaction.
PARIS. CALOSTAT® Sandwich is being used here for the first time to insulate a roof. In a restored villa located in a classy suburb of the French capital, the new variant, economical on space, insulates a roof, at the same time providing fire protection. The builder did not have much space for the roof insulation: No more than 5 centimeters were available, because circulation of air between the roofing and the insulation material also had to be ensured. CALOSTAT® Sandwich was cut to size on site and used as insulation between the rafters. CALOSTAT® had been recommended by insulation expert Philipp König of Isolproducts, who is enthusiastic about the material: 'Requirements on insulating materials are increasing continuously. CALOSTAT® impresses the experts by its combination of fire protection and excellent insulation performance.'
LIMERICK. Adare Manor is an early 19th century manor house in the village of Adare in County Limerick in the Republic of Ireland. The estate, formerly the seat of the Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl, was sold in the early 1980s. Shortly after the sale the property was converted by Thomas Kane, the new owner, into the Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort. A system with CALOSTAT® as core insulation, from the Northern Ireland insulation specialist Enviroform Solutions, was used in the internal insulation of two country houses of the luxurious property. With the use of this system, the old walls of the buildings are effectively and compactly insulated, and also protected against mold. The use of an interior insulating system with CALOSTAT® also produces a healthy and comfortable indoor climate for the well-being of golfers and hotel guests.
BERN. Apartment blocks in the quiet town of Muri in the Swiss canton of Bern have been energetically renovated and certified to Minergie® standard. This registered trademark for sustainable construction is owned by Verein Minergie, headquartered in Bern, and is the highest energy standard for low-energy houses in Switzerland. To obtain this certification, it was necessary to use very efficient insulation even at particularly critical points. In the areas of parapets and in window lintels with external blinds, not much space was available for insulation that also had to be non-combustible. With CALOSTAT®, however, experts from AGITEC were able to provide the right material for this requirement. Managing Director Sebastian von Stauffenberg is convinced of the merits of the new insulating material: 'The sum of its properties such as insulating performance, fire protection, and sustainability make CALOSTAT® unique and the first choice in projects requiring high-end insulation.'
