Rexel awarded Usine Nouvelle’s “Energy, Climate, and Decarbonation” award for its Carbon Tracker

Rexel awarded Usine Nouvelle's "Energy, Climate, and Decarbonation" award for its Carbon Tracker

During Usine Nouvelle's 2022 Sustainable Industry award ceremony that took place on June 28, 2022, Rexel was awarded the "Energy, Climate, and Decarbonation" award for its Carbon Tracker, a tool developed this year to calculate and reduce the environmental impact of the electrical equipment distributed by the Group.

Launched during Rexel Expo Paris 2022, Rexel's Carbon Tracker, with its Bureau Veritas-reviewed methodology, now allows customers to learn the environmental impacts of electrical products at each stage in their life cycle (manufacturing, distribution, installation, use, and end of life). It includes four environmental indicators:

  • Climate change,
  • Depletion of natural resources,
  • Energy consumption,
  • Water consumption.

In return, more eco-responsible alternatives can be suggested to them, to help them reduce their own impact and that of their end-user customers. The Carbon Tracker is the first environmental impact calculator for electrical equipment and aims to become a reference for the entire industry.

The Carbon Tracker is an essential building block in Rexel's climate strategy, whose ambitions were recently upgraded.
At a Capital Markets Day on June 16th, Guillaume Texier, CEO of Rexel, announced the Group's new 2030 objectives, aligned with a +1.5°C trajectory:

  • Reduce by 60%* its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions related to energy consumption in the Group's operations (scopes 1 & 2), compared to 2016,
  • Reduce by 60%* its GHG emissions related to the use of sold products, per euro of sales (scope 3), compared to 2016.

*These new targets are currently under validation by the SBTi
