Serbia, Bulgaria sign agreement on improvement of cooperation in field of environment

Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic and Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policies and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov signed today the Agreement on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in cross-border context, the goal of which is to improve cooperation in this area.

Vujovic stated that by signing the Agreement, the legal framework of cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection has been created.

She noted that the relevant ministries of Serbia and Bulgaria have been cooperating intensively in recent years, and last year, a series of meetings of working groups dealing with cross-border impact on the environment were held.

The Minister expressed gratitude to Bulgaria on the support to Serbia in the process of European integration, especially when it comes to opening Chapter 27, which deals with the environment and climate change.
