Crestview Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Campus

April 29, 2024

Persistence. Resilience. Unwavering commitment to moving forward.

These qualities defined the journey of Crestview Local Schools and its Columbiana County community as they celebrated a significant achievement - the official groundbreaking ceremony for the district's new PK-12 campus on Saturday, April 13.

"What an incredible journey it has been to this point," Crestview Board of Education President Melissa Wellman said.

Enjoy this video from the groundbreaking, featuring interviews with Crestview Superintendent Daniel Hill and retired Crestview Middle School teacher Nancy Dicken.

"It's been a long time coming," said Crestview Superintendent Daniel Hill. "The process had started in 2019 and some early site (work) is happening now, but just getting off the ground the vision, the expectation, the educational opportunities for our kids - we couldn't be more excited here at Crestview."

The event was particularly meaningful for Nancy Dicken, a member of Crestview's inaugural class in the 1960s, who later served as a middle school teacher within the district. Her legacy continues with her children and grandchildren, including a granddaughter, who is a senior at Crestview High School and performed with the school band during the ceremony.

Gusty winds could not dampen bright spirits during the groundbreaking ceremony.

"We're very happy," Dicken said. "We're all excited about it."

The new Crestview PK-12 campus is scheduled to open in time for the 2026-27 school year. Holabird & Root was the architectural firm that designed the building, and Canton's own Hammond Construction will bring that vision to life. A special thank you goes to OFCC Project Manager Karen Little and Planning Manager Joey DiOrio for their efforts on this project.

Dozens of members of the Crestview community gathered for the groundbreaking - and to listen to the Crestview High School band.
