ROAD TRIP! Taking a Look Back at Our #OHCommunitySpotlight Series Year One

This week marks one year since we kicked-off our popular #GOPCThread series on Twitter. Among the most popular threads have been our #OHCommunitySpotlight series. As summer approaches and we all start contemplating vacations and weekend getaways post-COVID, we decided to use this weeks thread to look back at the various legacy cities we have featured over the past year.

Some of the most popular #GOPCThreads have been those in our #OHCommunitySpotlight series, where each month we feature an Ohio community & highlight what makes each not only unique, but also inspire innovation for future improvement. They help to inspire road trips too!

Our first #OHCommunitySpotlight was @cityofSandusky, a #LegacyCity that is in the midst of implementing its bicentennial vision to make wholesale improvements throughout the community #GOPCThread

Continuing east along the north coast, our second #OHCommunitySpotlight was Ashtabula. Once a leading port on Lake Erie, Ashtabula has reinvented itself as a tourism destination #GOPCThread

In November, we took our #OHCommunitySpotlight series to Zanesville, an Ohio #LegacyCity and former state capital that has embraced its past heritage to chart a new course to the future #GOPCThread

2020 closed out with the #OHCommunitySpotlight series featuring Bellefontaine, where a group of local entrepreneurs are helping lead a community-wide effort to revitalize and bring new energy to their community #GOPCThread

We kicked-off the new year with our #OHCommunitySpotlight on Portsmouth, Ohio, a city as old as the state of Ohio and one of the state's smallest #LegacyCities #GOPCThread

In February, our sixth city in the #OHCommunitySpotlight series featured Van Wert, where local leaders have made deep commitments to turn around downtown, and thus the entire city #GOPCThread

March 1 is Statehood Day, commemorating the day in 1803 when Ohio join the Union. So, it was fitting that our next #OHCommunitySpotlight featured Chillicothe. Home of the 1st state capitol, it has done much in the past few years to diversify from its industrial past #GOPCThread

The Magic City was the next #LegacyCity to be featured in our #OHCommunitySpotlight series, as we highlighted some of the exciting things happening in Barberton #GOPCThread

Our most recent #OHCommunitySpotlight featured @CityofMiddletown, in Butler County, an Ohio #LegacyCity that has worked to reinvent itself over the past two decades #GOPCThread

Each of these #LegacyCities are unique and important contributors of new economic activity across Ohio. Hopefully this ongoing series will inspire you to spend time visiting one or more of these towns and seeing for yourself what's happening on the ground #GOPCThread
