The NASCAR Cup Series competed at Michigan International Speedway this past Sunday. Here's a look at the Power Rankings after the FireKeepers Casino 400:

1. Chase Elliott

A mysteriously quiet day overall for Elliott who was a pre-race favorite by many to challenge for the win. That never materialized for the Hendrick Motorsports driver who left Michigan just outside the top-10 with an 11th place finish,

2. Ross Chastain

The Trackhouse Racing driver spent 29 laps at the front of the field in Michigan but as usual he was part of a few adventures with other drivers during the course of the afternoon. Chastain finished a lap down and in 24th place Sunday afternoon.

Last Week: 2nd

3. Denny Hamlin

A missed opportunity for Hamlin who had a very potent Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota but a pit road infraction among other things got in the way of him challenging for the victory. Hamlin did lead 38 laps but could not charge all the way back to the front after the late penalty and he finished third.

Point Standings: 17th

4. Tyler Reddick

A big letdown after his Indianapolis Motor Speedway victory the week before. Reddick experienced engine issues in Michigan and his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet finally gave up on lap 110.

5. Joey Logano

A second straight week and a solid outing for Logano who maybe didn't have a car capable of winning the race but he stayed near the front of the field most of the day. When all was said and done the Team Penske driver came home with a fourth-place finish.

6. Kyle Larson

There was speed in Larson's Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in Michigan but that also applied to pit road. A speeding penalty put Larson in the hole and he had to do all he could to post a seventh-place finish.

7. Christopher Bell

One of the fastest cars of the weekend belonged to Bell who qualified outside the front row. However he made contact with Ross Chastain racing for position and the damage to his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was so severe he was eliminated from competition after leading 31 laps on Sunday.

8. Daniel Suarez

He had a fast racecar again in Michigan but the outcome was not good for Suarez who cut a tire in the final laps and limped around the track heading back to pit road for service. Despite leading 33 laps, Suarez was credited with a 25th-place finish,

9. Kevin Harvick

The 65 race winless drought is finally over for Harvick who scored his first victory since Bristol in 2020 when he took the checkered flag Sunday in Michigan. Harvick scored his sixth career Michigan win and the 59th of his NASCAR Cup Series tenure in the Irish Hills.

10. Kyle Busch

The summer of discontent continued in Michigan for Busch who was eliminated after just 24 laps when he was a victim of a chain reaction crash not of his own doing. Busch is trending in the wrong direction as he looks for momentum to head into the Playoffs.
