Marcia Cross Joins Moffitt’s National Board of Advisors

TAMPA, Fla. - Actress Marcia Cross has been appointed to Moffitt Cancer Center's national Board of Advisors, a growing group of prominent individuals who serve as Moffitt ambassadors and offer their expertise and counsel on issues relating to the cancer center.

Cross is a renowned actress who is best known for her role on the ABC hit series "Desperate Housewives," for which she was nominated for three Golden Globes and one Primetime Emmy. Cross also starred in the television series "Melrose Place" and the critically acclaimed "Everwood."

In 2019, Cross revealed that she had been diagnosed with anal cancer, which was likely related to HPV. Since then, she has been in remission and has become an advocate for removing the stigma around HPV-related cancers. She is co-founder of the HPV Cancers Alliance, a national organization that advocates for HPV education and treatment.

"I am so happy to join Moffitt's Board of Advisors, in fact honored to be asked," said Cross. "As you know, we are passionate about doing all we can to further research and help educate others about this virus. Moffitt is a leader in this arena, and its HPV research has impacted medical practice and policy worldwide."

Cross joins 37 prominent individuals from across the nation on Moffitt's Board of Advisors.

"Marcia's fight to destigmatize HPV-related cancers and encourage people to seek treatment is a true reflection of her passion and advocacy work. We are so honored to have her join our team," said Bob Griese, chair of Moffitt's Board of Advisors and former Miami Dolphins Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback. "We will benefit greatly from her insight and first-hand experience."
