UAE delegation holds meetings on sidelines of 77th session of United Nations General Assembly

The UAE delegation held high-level meetings on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, attended the ministerial-level meeting of the League of Arab States. His Excellency also spoke during a joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council and People's Republic of China.

For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, met with His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia. Additionally, His Excellency met with several ministers, including His Excellency Dr. Lemogang Kwape, Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Botswana; His Excellency Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Gambia; His Excellency Robert Dussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and Togolese Abroad of Togo; Ambassador Molly Phee, US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs; and Ambassador Mike Hammer, US Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa.

His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan also met with Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Africa in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs - Department of Peace Operations.

For her part, Her Excellency Mariam Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, alongside Her Excellency Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, met Ambassador Cindy McCain, US Permanent Representative to the UN Agencies in Rome.

His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, attended a virtual side event organized by the Permanent Mission of the Argentine Republic to the United Nations and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on opportunities and challenges in international development cooperation for middle-income countries. His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi also attended the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Contact Group on Muslims in Europe, which was organized by the Permanent Observer Mission of the OIC to the United Nations.

His Excellency Omar Ghobash, Assistant Minister for Culture and Public Diplomacy, attended the 57th Annual Appeal of Conscience Awards Dinner.
