New Dog Capacity Graphics and Report Card

Data is one of the most important tools we have when it comes to saving lives. Our leadership team and data experts have been working diligently to update our daily report cards to enhance our communications about the very real capacity issues we are experiencing at Dallas Animal Services.

We hope these graphics, along with our new and improved Daily Report Card, provide a better explanation of how many kennels we have available and where we run into issues in finding places to safely house animals in our care.

Doors and Badges

Please do not prop open doors. We have had some safety concerns arise lately and it is critical that we are using our badges to enter the building. Do not give out the back gate code to anyone. If you are having issues with badge access, please email [email protected].

Shoutout to Karen Davis

Great job to Karen for getting all of the budget materials prepared for the budget town halls this month. Thank you!

Thank you to the Medical Team

"I want to extend a big thank you to the entire medical team for all your hard work! You each come in everyday and tackle a mountain of work and care for hundreds of animals in our shelter with enthusiasm and professionalism. Even though the work is hard and seems never-ending each of you continuously provide the highest of care to the pets in our shelter! You are a great team and deserve to hear how much the work you do here is appreciated more often. Thank you all for everything you do!" - Michael BurK

Shoutout to the entire Field Services team

"I would like to advocate for a shout out to the entire field team - the ASOs and ARR team - for continuing to work in the extreme heat, day in and day out, short staffed, and keeping good attitudes despite the hurdles they face." - Richard Havens

Clear the Shelters

Clear the Shelters is back for the 8th year! Dallas Animal Services is participating by waiving adoption fees all month long.

Maddie's Fund Shelter & Rescue Support Calls

Maddie's Fund, in concert with American Pets Alive!, hosts a weekly hour-long Zoom call for animal welfare workers and volunteers. While these calls started out as a response to COVID-19, it's grown into so much more. These calls are a safe place to discuss uncomfortable topics, all while sharing a common goal of preserving the human-animal bond.

This call, recurring each Monday unless otherwise posted, is primarily for shelter workers, volunteers and rescue organizations.
