OHT presents at Norway China Offshore Wind Seminar

The 2021 Norway China Offshore Wind Seminar was successfully held in Shanghai on 27th April, hosted by The Royal Norwegian Consulate General Shanghai, China Wind Energy Association (CWEA), Innovation Norway in China and Norwegian Energy Partners.

OHT were invited to speak amongst nine other well-known companies within offshore wind including Equinor, SGIDI Engineering Consulting, CIMC Raffles, Shanghai Electric, DNV, Aker Solutions, Ulstein, Kongsberg Maritime and Passer.

OHT's General Manager in China Mr. Rui Peng presented on the topic of transitioning from a 'Semi-submersible heavy transport Shipowner to an Offshore Wind Engineering Innovator'.

Mr Peng introduced OHT's offshore wind business in China and worldwide, and gave an update on the progress of the newbuild vessel projects Alfa Lift and Vind as well as case studies of OHT's most recent offshore wind related projects.

Mr Peng said 'the audience showed a great deal of interest and were impressed with the ability and capacity of OHT's offshore wind installation vessels'.

More than 140 representatives, including Chinese offshore wind developers and engineering design institutes, engineering companies, and downstream companies, gathered to share their insights on China's offshore wind market, discussing its current state and the future development trends.

In addition, the conference included an online live stream so that audiences around the world could watch it in real-time from different locations.

This seminar was hosted in order to strengthen the cooperation between Norwegian and Chinese companies in offshore wind and promote the development and construction of offshore wind farms.

The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai was founded as one of Norway's first independent Foreign Service missions in 1906. It strives to further develop Sino-Norwegian relations in this important part of China. One of its main priorities is the business promotion between China and Norway.

Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA) was founded in 1981. It is a non-profit social entity officially registered in the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China. One of CWEA's missions is to establish good relationships with domestic and overseas wind societies and build the consensus of the public toward renewable energy.
