Day #4 Morning Report - Hempel World Cup Series Final - Marseille

Sailors arose earlier than normal on Friday for the fourth day of competition at the Hempel World Cup Series Final in Marseille, France as competition is scheduled to commence at the earlier time of 10:00 local time.

At 09:00, the breeze is expected to be around 14-18 knots across the racing areas with some gusts upwards of 25 knots. As the day progresses, the wind speed is predicted to pick up to between 22-24 knots with 35 knot gusts. A decision was made on Thursday evening to start at the earlier time to make the most of the conditions that are safe for the ten Olympic events and Open Kiteboarding to sail in.

As the wind strength increases as the day progresses, postponements can be expected.

Friday's action is the final day of fleet racing for the 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17, Open Kiteboarding and the Men's and Women's RS:X. All of the sailors will be targeting a top ten place in order to be in with a shot at the podium during Saturday's Medal Races which will be live streamed on World Sailing's YouTube channel -

The 470s, Laser, Laser Radial and Finn will continue with fleet racing on Friday and Saturday before their Medal Races on Sunday.
