Durham Police Investigate Shooting at Streets at Southpoint

Durham police are investigating a shooting that happened Friday afternoon at The Streets at Southpoint, 6910 Fayetteville Road. Three people were shot, and three other people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries that were not gunshot wounds.

The shooting was reported at 3:23 p.m. on the second floor of the mall. Off-duty Durham police officers working at the mall heard shots fired and requested assistance. The mall was completely locked down and officers located three people who had been shot. One of the shooting victims was a 10-year-old who suffered a bullet ricochet injury. The juvenile's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

It did not appear to be a random incident, according to investigators. Officers have detained one person at this time.
