Trafficking Amounts of Drugs and Firearms Recovered in Dorchester

At about 2:18 PM, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, members of the Drug Control Unit of District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Darnell Gibbs, 27, of Dorchester, and Luis Malave, 26, of Dorchester, on firearm and drug charges.

Officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation and execution of search warrants in the area of 4 Columbia Terrace. As a result of the search warrants, officers recovered a Springfield Armory firearm with an obliterated serial number affixed with a laser sight and six rounds in a high-capacity magazine, a Girsan Regard MC with 18 rounds in the magazine, 15 liquid THC cartridges, 51 THC vaporizers, various pills, five pounds of marijuana, 35 grams of cocaine, 85 rounds of ammunition, an electric money counter, heat sealer, digital scale, various packaging, approximately $109,804 in US currency and a ballistic vest.

Gibbs was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, improper storage of a firearm, trafficking of class B, possession with intent to distribute class B, possession with intent to distribute class D.

Malave was placed under arrest and charged with trafficking of class B, possession with intent to distribute class D, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Both are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
