Tarleton takes 65 Academic All-WAC honors in spring season
The Western Athletic Conference announced Wednesday its full list of 2022 Academic All-WAC honorees from the spring season. This covered baseball, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field. In addition, the WAC announced its freshmen/transfer academic teams for the fall and winter sports.
Tarleton had 74 total student-athletes recognized with an Academic All-WAC award on Wednesday, 65 from the spring season, nine on the freshmen/transfer fall-winter session.
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average, and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests, with the exception of baseball and softball pitchers, who must have competed in 20 percent of the team's contests.
Tarleton Women's Outdoor Track and Field had the most honored on Wednesday with 19 athletes named Academic All-WAC. Next was Tarleton's baseball team with 13 honorees, then softball with 12, men's outdoor track and field with 11, women's tennis with seven, and women's golf with three. Of the freshmen/transfer academic teams, Tarleton women's basketball had four honorees, women's cross country had three, and men's basketball had two.
