AUSTIN, Texas - August 14, 2019 - Labor Day weekend is the start, not end, of prime travel time for vacationers seeking value. Prices are poised to drop up to 29% for primo vacation rental homes in coveted beach and lake destinations for the month of September, according to data released today by Vrbo®.
What's more, temperatures at top shoulder season savings destinations like Ocean City, N.J., and Sunriver, Ore., are likely to decrease by only one percent1 from August to September, using recent history as a guide.
'Shoulder season refers to off-peak travel times, and while there are no official dates for the start and end of shoulder season, owners of Vrbo vacation homes tend to set their nightly rental rates to drop right after Labor Day,' said Melanie Fish, Vrbo travel expert. 'Shoulder season offers so many benefits - reduced vacation rental home prices, more selection available, less crowded beaches, the list goes on. We looked at the data so vacationers can take full advantage.'
