IRC statement on attacks in southern Lebanon

Beirut, Lebanon, March 28, 2024 - Juan Gabriel Wells, IRC Lebanon Country Director says:

"We are deeply concerned by the deaths of civilians, including medical personnel, as a result of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon over the last 36 hours. As many as 11 civilians, including 10 paramedics, are reported to have been killed in the attacks. Health facilities, medical staff and civilians all have protected status under International Humanitarian Law (IHL). That protection must be strictly upheld. We urge all parties to respect their obligations under IHL and to take every possible step to protect civilians from further harm."
