Seven first place finishes for Jimmies at Cobber Open

MOORHEAD, Minn.-- The University of Jamestown indoor track and field teams turned in mpressive performances Saturday at the Cobber Open, hosted by Concordia-Moorhead College.

The Jimmie women had four first-place finishes and six top-four finishes overall while the men had three first-place winners and 18 top-four finishes.

The women's 4x200 meter relay team of Kylee Voigt (SR/Jamestown, N.D.), Julia Johnson (SR/Park River, N.D.), Meghan Orr (SR/Ypsilanti, N.D.), and Carmen DeVries (SO/Winslow, Ill.) ran a winning time of 1 minute, 48.03 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Orr, Kristin Breaux (JR/Chino, Calif.), Voigt, and DeVries won in a time of 4:08.50.

DeVries took top honors in the triple jump with a mark of 34 feet, 1 1/4 inches and Johnson won the long jump with a best mark of 16 feet, 10 3/4 inches.

Orr was fourth in the 60 meters in a time of 8.47 seconds, as was Michaela Murray (FR/St. Paul, Minn.) in the long jump (14 feet, 8 inches).

Setting personal bests were Shea Esp (SO/Hardin, Mont.) (60 meter hurdles) and Megan Tietjen (FR/Hampton, Minn.) (weight throw) while Moira McNally (SR/Chokio, Minn.) (weight throw) had a season-best mark.

On the men's side, Andrew Hornung (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) won the 600 meters (1:26.46), Braedon Gumke (SO/Watford City, N.D.) cleared a season-best 14 feet to win the pole vault, and Alex Huff (JR/Cleveland, N.D.) went a collegiate-best 40 feet, 7 1/2 inches to win the triple jump.

Second-place finishes went to Braeden Knutson (FR/Casselton, N.D.) (400 meters), Cain Foss (SO/Garrison, N.D.) (600 meters), David Martin (FR/Wasco, Calif.) (800 meters), Noah Mang (SO/West Chester, Ohio) (1000 meters), Wyatt Runck (FR/Lisbon, N.D.) (60 meter hurdles), Alexzander Bishop (FR/Woodland, Wash.) (high jump), Tyson Akers (SO/Des Lacs, N.D.) (long jump), Huff (long jump), the 4x200 meter relay team of Jordan Olson (SO/Prior Lake, Minn.), Damond Anderson (JR/Lee's Summit, Mo.), Knutson, and Akers; and the 4x400 meter relay team of Knutson, Hornung, Obed Karege (SO/Amarillo, Texas), and Cain Foss.

Placing third was Karege (600 meters).

Fourth-place finishes went to Benjamin Granados (FR/Dayton, Nev.) (60 meters and 200 meters), Jacob Juelfs (JR/Medina, N.D.) (800 meters), and Darien Hauf (FR/Makoti, N.D.) (60 meter hurdles).

Personal bests were set by Drayven Ayers (SO/Priest River, Idaho) (200 meters), Austin Carter (SO/Waukesha, Wis.) (shot put and weight throw), Granados (200 meters), Gumke (200 meters), Samuel Kludt (SR/Hettinger, N.D.) (60 meters and 200 meters), Martin (800 meters), Runck (60 meter hurdles), Lucas Subart (FR/Robinson, N.D.) (long jump), and Lee Von Stanke (JR/Goolwa South, Australia) (shot put).

Those turning in season bests were Chandler Cork (JR/Green Bay, Wis.) (200 meters and 400 meters), Joshua Hurtado (SO/Nashville, Tenn.) (60 meters), Mang (1000 meters), and Delwin Potter (SR/Battle Mountain, Nev.) (shot put).
