Cheryl Boone Isaacs is a legendary figure in Hollywood. Since getting her start in publicity in the late 1970s, she has worked at major studios and been involved in the promotion of blockbusters such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Forrest Gump (1994) and The King's Speech (2010). In addition to starting her own business, CBI Enterprises Inc., she also made history as the first Black president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and served for 4 years before stepping down.
In honor of Black History Month, the SAG-AFTRA podcast is rebroadcasting a live 2018 Icon Mann panel conversation between Isaacs and filmmaker Reginald Hudlin (Django Unchained). Isaacs discusses her early life, influences and work, and offers advice to up-and-comers in the film industry. The podcast is introduced by SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director David White.
