City Council to Meet for Work Session June 27, 2022

A Las Cruces City Council work session focusing on General Obligation (GO) Bonds, present and future, will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

An update on the 2022 GO bonds initiative followed by a status update of GO Bond projects currently underway will be presented Monday to City Council.

The first work session item will be continued discussion of the 2022 GO Bond initiative. On June 13, 2022, City Council was presented with information related to public engagement efforts and potential projects for a new GO Bond issuance.

In addition to public engagement efforts that have begun, the City recently completed an additional survey related to GO Bonds. The results of the second survey will be presented Monday to the City Council.

Additionally, a quarterly update on the status of current General Obligation (GO) Bond projects will be presented by City staff at Monday's work session. The update is intended to provide information about $35.6 million in GO bond projects and related timelines.

The current GO bonds have paid for improvements to parks, including sports fields and related facilities; construction of a new Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley facility and related improvements; replacement of Fire Station No. 3, on Valley Drive, with a new state-of-the-art facility; and upgrades to walking, jogging, and biking trails in Las Cruces. Prior to the work session, City Council will conduct a Closed Meetingat 10 a.m. Monday at City Hall. The Council will discuss the purchase, acquisition, or disposal of real property.

Immediately following the work session, a brief Agenda Setting Meetingwill be conducted in Council Chambers at City Hall. That meeting will determine the agenda for the July 5, 2022 City Council meeting.
