CABEI delivers feasibility studies for the development of a public cable car in Tegucigalpa

Tegucigalpa, August 30, 2021. - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) delivered the 'Feasibility Studies for an Aerial Cable Transportation Network' to the Municipal Mayor's Office of the Central District (AMDC), which contains the variables to be considered for the development of a public cable car that would connect the cities of Comayagüela and Tegucigalpa.

The studies contain a technical, economic, environmental, social and gender impact proposal, which will serve as the basis for the Mayor's Office to launch the bidding process for the final design, construction, operation, maintenance, financial package proposal and transfer of an aerial cable public transportation system and its integration with other means of transportation.

'We are very enthusiastic about the progress of this important project that will improve the quality of life of more than 500,000 Hondurans who commute daily from their homes to their jobs, as it will reduce their travel times, improve transportation safety and reduce vehicular traffic, generating fewer gas emissions into the environment,' said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

These studies were financed in the amount of €725,840 in the form of non-reimbursable technical cooperation from the French Treasury Facility FASEP, which is administered by CABEI, thus supporting the Mayor's Office of the Central District in the actions necessary to modernize urban public transportation.

During an event, CABEI Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi presented the studies to the Mayor of the Central District, Mr. Nasry Asfura, in the presence of Mrs. Martine Festaud, Deputy to the Ambassador and Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the French Embassy in Honduras.
