Death of woman in Leigh no longer suspicious

The death of a woman in Leigh is no longer being treated as suspicious.

At 10am yesterday morning (Saturday 15 December 2018), police were called to Maple Crescent by the ambulance service after a woman being found unresponsive in a house.

Despite the best efforts of the paramedics who administered CPR at the address, the woman - believed to be in her 20s - was pronounced dead.

A 22-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation following the Home Office Post Mortem examination, which proved there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Police Superintendent Paul Walker, said: 'We've followed each line of enquiry available to us to find out exactly what has led to the end of this woman's life but we are no longer treating this as a murder investigation.

'Our thoughts of course remain with the woman's family and I'd like to thank the people in the local area for their patience as we have dealt with this sad incident.'
