MAJOR INJURY TRAFFIC COLLISION

RIVERSIDE, CA - On Saturday, June 3, 2017, at approximately 09:12 PM, Riverside Police and Fire responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision at the intersection of Rutland Ave. and Farrier Ave. Initial reports show a 1997 Gray Nissan Pathfinder was being driven northbound on Rutland Ave. by a 39 year old resident of Riverside. As the Nissan was passing Farrier Ave., the pedestrian, a 5 year old resident of Riverside, entered the roadway going from the northwest corner of the intersection towards Rutland Park.

The juvenile was struck by the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. The juvenile was transported to Loma Linda Hospital.

Officers from the Riverside Police Department M.A.I.T. were called to the scene and documented the scene. The pedestrian was later expected to survive but sustained severe brain trauma.
