Meeting between the RIHF and OFKH Bashkiria

Russian Ice Hockey Federation and FKHH Bashkiria representatives held a meeting today in Ufa. The meeting's main topic was the development of ice hockey in the republic. RIHF first vice-president Roman Rotenberg, chief of the children's ice hockey development department Sergei Nikolaev, HC Salavat Yulaev Ufa general director Valery Nurgutdinov, Leningrad Region ice hockey president Andrei Tochitsky, Salavat Yulaev's general director assistant Alexander Semak, president of the Bashkiria ice hockey federation Vadim Kashapov, SDYUSHOR Salavat Yulaev director Rashit Gimaev and HC Toros general director Rishat Sakaev all took part in the event.

These following aspects of children's ice hockey development in Bashkiria were discussed:

- Plans for the introductions of new educational programs, procedures and standards in republic schools;

- Local ice hockey school activity problems;

- Modern techniques for video monitoring training sessions;

- Promotion of related sports such as floorball for a universal and affordable way of promoting ice hockey;

- Increasing the number of ice hockey players in Bashkiria;

- Student Hockey League development in the republic and its finances.

RIHF first vice-president Roman Rotenberg:

- This was a very productive meeting. We discussed a long list of issues and pointed out a number of problems, which I am confident we will be able to solve in the near future. The topic of how useful ice hockey schools are is one of those issues covered. At the moment, the usefulness of a school is largely evaulated by its results and doesn't speak about how players are actually coached. A lot of time was put on to the overall mass interest in ice hockey. Our Bashkiria colleagues supported the idea of popularising ice hockey through a sport like floorball, which doesn't require expensive equipment or facilities. Bashkortostan is a developed ice hockey region. Together, we can develop ice hockey in the republic even further.
