NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION INFORMATION

2022 General Election Information

Voters, take note of election district changes!

Some Congressional Districts have been changed, effective January 2022. Sussex County no longer falls withinthe 11th Congressional District; parts of Sussex County now fall under the 5th & 7thdistricts. Review the lists below to see if your municipality has been assigned to a new Congressional District:

EARLY IN-PERSON VOTING IS AVAILABLE TO NJ VOTERS!

There will be THREE ways to vote this November...
1. Vote early in person, at one of three designated "vote centers" using a voting machine.
2. Vote early by mail-in ballot.
3. Vote on Election Day, in person using a voting machine at your assigned polling place.

New Jersey voters have the option to vote early in person and on voting machines at "Vote Centers" in their county. The three sites designated as Vote Centers in Sussex County are:

  1. County Administration Building (pending ADA approval), Newton
  2. Sussex-Wantage Branch Library, Wantage
  3. Louise Childs Branch Library, Stanhope

DATES TO KNOW: November 8, 2022 General Election

  • Saturday, Oct. 29 - Sunday, Nov. 6: Early Voting Dates (see three early voting centers above)
  • Tuesday, Nov. 1: Last day to request a mail-in ballot for the General Election
  • Monday, Nov. 7 (before 3 p.m.): Last day to apply in person at the Clerk's Office for an absentee ballot
  • Tuesday, Nov. 8:Election Day- polls open - 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

ALL registered voters(including mail-in ballot voters) will receive a Sample Ballot in the mail 7-10 days before Election Day, which will provide address information for the Vote Centers, as well as voting hours.
NOTE! Voters who are scheduled to receive mail-in ballots will not be able to vote using a voting machine unless they first opt out of vote-by-mail.

IN PERSON VOTING AT COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE:

Voters who want to vote early by paper ballot, but who miss the deadline to request a mail-in ballot by mail, may apply to vote an early paper ballot in person at the County Clerk's Office up until 3 p.m. the Monday beforeElection Day.

Regular office hours: Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Paid parking lot available on Trinity Street.

In New Jersey, mail-in/absentee ballots are accepted via mail up to six days after Election Day, as long as the envelope bears a postmark not later than Election Day.

Provisional Ballotsare counted after the deadline for receiving mail-in/absentee ballots has passed.

NOTICE REGARDING THE "ALL FUTURE ELECTION" MAILING LIST:

***Some voters have expressed concern that, because they voted by mail under Executive Order in the 2020 elections, they will be placed on the list to automatically receive mail-in ballots in all future elections. THIS IS NOT TRUE.

Voters who voted by mail under executive order in 2020 will NOT be put on this list and so have no need to opt off the list.
