MADISON, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the southbound lane of Highway 34 will be periodically closed from 2nd Street NE to 4th Street SE starting Thursday, April 18.
Traffic is currently reduced to one lane in each direction in the northbound lanes of Highway 34 from 2nd Street NE to 4th Street SE in Madison. Southbound traffic will be periodically closed during daylight hours and will be opened nightly and when no construction is taking place.
Over-width vehicles and through traffic will be detoured using the Highway 34 bypass. Local traffic will be detoured using either Lincoln Avenue or Lee Avenue. This closure is necessary to complete the installation of the sanitary sewer and water main.
D & G Concrete Construction of Sioux Falls is the prime contractor on this $7.9 million project.
The substantial completion date is Nov. 29, 2019 and the overall completion date is August 2020.
