The headquarters of the coalition group of troops created as part of the joint strategic exercise Zapad-2021 has started working at the Mulino training ground

The headquarters of the coalition group of troops of the armed forces of seven states, created within the framework of the joint strategic exercise Zapad-2021, is deployed at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Representatives of the command of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forces and military contingents of the armed forces of Armenia, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia have started planning and preparing a joint ground operation as part of the headquarters of the leadership of the coalition group of troops.

Officers of the operational groups of the armed forces of Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Sri-Lanka also take part in the work of the headquarters.

To ensure the work of the control body of the coalition grouping of troops, modern communication facilities, multimedia equipment, automated workstations have been deployed at the headquarters, allowing real-time monitoring of the preparation and conduct of the military operation.

The JSE of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus takes place every two years in accordance with the decision taken by the heads of the two states.

The Zapad-2021 exercise is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation this year.

Practical actions of the troops (forces) will be held in the period from September 10 to 16 at nine training grounds located on the territory of the Russian Federation, in the Baltic Sea, as well as at five training grounds of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.

In total, up to 200 thousand military personnel will take part in the JSE Zapad-2021 on the territory of Russia and Belarus, about 80 aircraft and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment, including 290 tanks, 240 guns, multiple rocket launchers and mortars, as well as up to 15 ships will be involved.

The maximum number of personnel involved in the exercise of military units subject to the Vienna Document of 2011 on Confidence-and Security-building measures on the territory of the Russian Federation will not exceed 6.4 thousand military personnel.

The return of the military authorities and troops to the points of permanent deployment after participating in the exercise is planned until mid-October.
