Prime Minister extends greetings to Iceland on the Independence Day

On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė extends sincere greetings to Iceland on the occasion of the Independence Day.

'Throughout history, our nations stood together for the ideals of freedom, democracy, sovereignty, and respect for human rights. That is no better manifested than in a historic decision of Iceland to support Lithuania's Independence when it was most needed. We highly value the friendship and allied relationship between our two nations. We are thankful for Iceland's contribution to NATO's Enhanced Forward Presence in the Baltic states. I firmly believe that our joint efforts will contribute to a more peaceful and more secure future of the whole Nordic-Baltic region. I look forward to working with you in further strengthening our cooperation based upon shared values and our enduring friendship,' reads the Prime Minister's letter.
