Over 33,000 day-old-chicks are delivered to their new habitat in Novosibirsk aboard ATRAN’s freighter

ATRAN Airlines, an express carrier within Volga-Dnepr Group, has transported over 33,000 one-day-old chicks from Madrid (Spain) to Novosibirsk (Russia) aboard its Boeing 737-800BCF together with Air Charter Service.

The delicate creatures, weighing around 1,800 kg, 'took their seats' in 423 dedicated cages in Madrid-Barajas Airport and continued their comfortable journey to Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport. During the flight, the crew kept the ambient temperature within the 18-24C range and maintained a ventilation and humidity environment.

Vasiliy Zhukov, Commercial Director of ATRAN Airlines, comments: 'In 2021 we have operated regular charters with day-old chicks which are important for regional agricultural companies that are supporting future generations programmes of poultry. Day-old chicks are an extremely sensitive type of 'cargo' as their transportation requires meticulous planning, strict operating procedures, and 24/7 cooperation at all levels. During the winter period under severe outdoor temperatures, ground handling operations should be planned to the smallest details to minimize loading time. This is a complex and well-orchestrated work of all the stakeholders involved and we are happy to accomplish another charter flight from Madrid in the interests of our customer'.

ATRAN Airlines offers its customers dedicated solutions for transportations of various types of cargo - general, e-commerce, dangerous goods, live animals and others. The company operates a fleet of Boeing 737 freighters and links the cities of China with Russia and Europe. It has recently enlarged its fleet of B737 freighters which now consists of 3 Boeing 737-400SF and 6 B737-800BCF.
