Starting Wednesday, May 1, and continuing through Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, Owens Avenue will have lane restrictions and roadwork between Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard and Interstate 15. Traffic generally will be restricted to one through lane for east- and westbound traffic. Primary work activities include lowering of utilities, milling, installation of traffic signal loop detectors, paving, raising of utilities and installation of roadway delineations. Work activities will take place approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday; however, lane restrictions generally will remain in place around the clock. Milling and paving operations will be performed for approximately two weeks out of the 15-week period, subject to weather and equipment availability.

Washington Avenue or Lake Mead Boulevard are recommended as alternate routes for east- and westbound traffic.

Preliminary work was completed, consisting of improvements to the sidewalk areas to meet federal requirements for the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the reconstruction of concrete cross gutter, curb and gutter.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work is $ 1.3 million, funded by the Federal Highway Administration and matched with Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax revenues.
