SEA Games 2019Group A: Myanmar beat Timor-Leste to go top November 29 2019

Manila: Myanmar took a huge step towards the 2019 Sea Games men's football semi-finals with a 3-1 win over Timor-Leste in Group A on Friday.

The win took Myanmar to seven points, having played to a 1-1 draw with Malaysia before beating Philippines 2-1 on Wednesday.

Timor-Leste, beaten 5-0 by Indonesia in their opening match, were under pressure from the start as Myanmar took the lead in the 10th minute through Aung Kaung Mann.

Myanmar restricted Timor-Leste to the occasional foray upfront and Htet Phyo Wai widened their lead in the 36th minute.

Timor-Leste, however, refused to give up and gave themselves hope when Ximines Mesquita pulled one back five minutes from the break.

Myanmar, however, started the second half on the front foot and Hlaing Bo Bo ended Timor-Leste's resistance with his effort in the 54th minute.

Myanmar will play Cambodia on Monday while Timor-Leste will go up against Malaysia.
