Chevron, Delta Air Lines e Google annunciano l'intenzione di misurare i dati sulle emissioni di carburante per un’aviazione più sostenibile, aumentando la trasparenza del settore

Chevron U.S.A. Inc., attraverso la sua divisione Chevron Products Company (Chevron), Delta Air Lines (Delta) e Google hanno annunciato il 7 settembre scorso un memorandum d'intesa (MOU) per tracciare i dati sulle emissioni dei lotti di prova del carburante sostenibile per aerei (SAF) utilizzando una tecnologia basata su cloud.

Il carbuante sostenibile per l'aviazione è prodotto da materie prime biologiche che possono ridurre le emissioni di carbonio in modo significativo rispetto al carburante per jet convenzionale. Le compagnie sperano di creare un modello comune e più trasparente per l'analisi delle potenziali riduzioni delle emissioni di gas serra, che potrebbe essere adottato dalle organizzazioni che stanno considerando programmi SAF. Con questo progetto, Chevron prevede di produrre un lotto di prova di SAF nella sua raffineria di El Segundo e di venderlo a Delta all'aeroporto internazionale di Los Angeles (LAX), un importante hub globale per la flotta del vettore.

In parallelo, Google Cloud prevede di costruire un modello di analisi per raccogliere e analizzare in modo sicuro i dati sulle emissioni di Delta e Chevron relativi al lotto di test SAF. L'obiettivo del progetto pilota sarà quello di fornire una migliore visibilità dei relativi dati, consentendo una maggiore trasparenza e una migliore reportistica delle emissioni SAF.
