All of RIU’s destinations are now back in action with the reopening of the hotel Riu Sri Lanka

  • The Riu Sri Lanka was the chain's first establishment in Asia, and it is now the last to reopen its doors following the standstill caused by the pandemic. With this milestone, all of RIU's destinations in 20 countries are now back up and running

TheHotel Riu Sri Lanka, which was the first hotel opened by the chain in Asia back in 2016, is reopening its doors tomorrow 3 December after a 20-month closure. This is great news for the chain, as it is the last destination to get back up and running after the standstill caused by the pandemic. With just a few weeks to go before the end of the year, RIU Hotels & Resorts is once again operating in the 20 countries where it is present, thereby reaching its goal of recovering as many employees and customers as possible worldwide.

The Riu Sri Lanka was inaugurated in 2016 in Ahungalla, a beautiful coastal town in the south west of the country. Following an 18-month closure, it is now ready to once again welcome customers that have chosen this paradise for a relaxing holiday. It is reopening with the utmost safety and hygiene guarantees, as all staff are fully vaccinated and have received the necessary training to apply our reinforced protocols. Therefore, customers of this jaw-dropping beachfront hotel will be able to enjoy a safe holiday in unbeatable natural surroundings.

It has 501 rooms and 24-hour all-inclusive service, allowing guests to freely enjoy its wide range of dining options. They can savour Asian specialities at the Kaori restaurant, Italian delicacies at La Forchetta or, alternatively, they can choose an al fresco barbecue in Saute. The hotel also has two buffet restaurants, Riti Panna and Ceylon, and a comprehensive drink service at its four bars: Nuwara, The Purple Lounge, After Hours and Flamingos, the last of which is by the pool and has a swim-up bar.

Outside, the hotel has three large swimming pools and one children's pool. What's more, customers can relax in the sun on the hotel's terraces or use the jacuzzi and gym. They can also visit the Renova Spa wellness centre, where they can spoil themselves in the beauty or hair salon and try out the massage service.

Guests are guaranteed to have a great time thanks to the wide range of activities on offer, which will delight children and adults alike. In the daytime, the youngest members of the family can go to the RiuLand miniclub with their new friends, while adults can enjoy a full entertainment schedule or get in shape in the RiuFit area.
