Jamie Woodson Selected to Join BlueCross Board

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has chosen TriStar Strategies founder and principal Jamie Woodson to serve on its board of directors.

Before launching TriStar Strategies, Woodson served as CEO for the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE). Before joining SCORE, she held a seat in the Tennessee General Assembly from 1998 to 2011, serving as chair of the state Senate Education Committee and speaker pro tempore during her tenure.

"Jamie's experience as a legislator, executive, and strategic advisor will support our efforts to drive innovation that enhances our services to Tennesseans," said Emily Reynolds, chairman of the BlueCross board. "Her commitment to advancing educational opportunities and promoting student success will also be instrumental in sustaining our workforce development initiatives like the BlueSky Institute."

Woodson serves as senior advisor to the Ayers Foundation Trust, the John M. Belk Endowment, the Haslam 3 Foundation, and SCORE.

In addition to her service on the BlueCross board as a member-at-large, Woodson serves on the boards of The University of Tennessee, The Rodel Institute, the Tennessee Public Charter School Commission, and the Scarlett Family Foundation. She is an Aspen Rodel Fellow, Pahara-Aspen Institute in Entrepreneurial Leadership in Education Fellow, and a Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellow.

Woodson earned her bachelor's degree and juris doctorate from The University of Tennessee, where she received recognition as a "Torchbearer", the school's highest undergraduate honor.
