Los Angeles, CA- Today, the Board of Supervisors voted to approve a motion authored by Supervisor Janice Hahn which allocates $441,000 of Prop A funds to make improvements in the South Coast Botanic Garden.
The South Coast Botanic Garden, located in Palos Verdes, is open 364 days a year and is home to over 2,500 different species of plants. Visitors come for the 87 acres of well-maintained gardens but stay for the fun and innovative community programs which include yoga classes, garden club meetings, flower arranging classes, and more.
The funds approved today will be used to purchase and install three heating and air conditioning units, repair a wooden trellis, and partially replace the beautiful but worn out mission style roof on the garden's administrative building.
'The South Coast Botanic Garden really is a community gem,' said Supervisor Hahn. 'These funds are being put to good use making much-needed repairs that will allow residents to enjoy the gardens for years to come.'
