April 17, 2024: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Charged with Stealing Cash Evidence, Filing a False Police Report

If convicted as charged, Jessica Lynn faces a maximum sentence of six years, two months in state prison.

WHITTIER, CA- Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was charged with stealing cash and a coin purse she found in a vehicle after a traffic stop, then filing a false police report and concealing the evidence.

"Law enforcement officers are entrusted with upholding the law and safeguarding our communities," District Attorney George Gascón said. "When an individual in such a position breaches this trust, it not only undermines the integrity of the entire justice system but also jeopardizes the safety and well-being of those they are sworn to protect."

Jessica Lynn (dob 10/11/1984) was charged with one felony count of filing a false police report, one felony count of altering, planting or concealing evidence as a peace officer and one misdemeanor count of petty theft not exceeding $950 in value in case 24CJCF02439.

Lynn's arraignment was scheduled for July 2, 2024, Dept. 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Building.

If convicted on all charges, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of six years, two months in state prison.

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at about 2:46 a.m., Dep. Lynn conducted a traffic stop for excessive window tint at a strip mall located at 10422 Whittier Boulevard, Whittier. The driver was not in possession of a valid driver's license. After searching the vehicle, Lynn recovered a coin purse containing money and is accused of stealing the cash and discarding the coin purse in a trash receptacle.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Justice System Integrity Division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
