Commenting on Theresa May, the Prime Minister's speech to the Conservative Party Conference, a spokesperson for EEF said:

'Business will be pleased to hear Theresa May's speech at the Conservative Party conference today, due to the emphasis upon industry. We support the view that government must work alongside employers to bring about positive change in terms of economic growth and future success to the UK economy. Both Theresa May's and Philip Hammond's speeches were pragmatic when it came to Brexit, as both recognise the importance of frictionless trade and that clarity is required for future trading agreements.

EEF's concerns are being heard regarding the Apprenticeship Levy, with adaptations to the scheme good news, however we encourage further constructive dialog around the topic. We look forward to discussing how it can be a policy truly fit for manufacturers.'
