Prime Minister visited the forthcoming exhibition of Litvak artist of Lithuanian origin in Rome

On 2 September, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė visited the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (it. Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea) in Rome. During the meeting with the Head of the Gallery Cristiana Collu the Prime Minister discussed cultural cooperation between the countries.

The main topic of conversation was the personal exhibition of the Litvak artist Antonietta Raphaël Mafai, which will take place at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome this autumn. Lithuania is a partner in organising this exhibition. Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė thanked the Head of the Gallery and curators for their special attention to this Litvak artist.

'The Litvak heritage is an important and integral part of Lithuania's cultural and historical heritage. I hope that the exhibition of this artist will be widely visited and enrich art lovers', said the Prime Minister.

Works by the renowned Italian sculptor and painter Antonietta Raphaël Mafai are exhibited and held in the archives at the aforementioned gallery, other Italian museums and private collections. The exhibition will explore not only the Litvak origin of the artist, but also the role of women artists in art.
