KUTZTOWN, Pa. --, a two-time All-American in the discus throw, represented Kutztown University men's track & field on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, which was unveiled Friday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hoffman, a native of York, Pennsylvania, lost out on an opportunity to become only the Golden Bears' second three-time NCAA Division II Outdoor All-American with the cancellation of the 2020 outdoor season due to the coronavirus pandemic. The junior was third in the discus at last year's NCAA DII Outdoor Championships and 10th as a freshman in 2018. Paul Schmitt achieved All-America status in the pole vault for KU at the 2000, 2001 and 2002 Outdoor Championships.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances that befell Hoffman, his teammates and many fellow KU student-athletes, he continued to excel in the classroom. The culmination of those efforts resulted in his first career selection to the Academic All-District Team. Hoffman is majoring in business administration with a finance concentration. He currently holds a 3.53 cumulative GPA.
Hoffman owns program, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and PSAC Outdoor Championships record in the discus with a career-best throw of 186'4' (56.80m), which came at the 2019 conference meet. The two-time All-PSAC and USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region honoree was also a 2018-19 PSAC Scholar-Athlete and is a multi-time Dean's List student.
To be considered for the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA, have reached sophomore athletic eligibility and be a starter or important reserve with their respective athletic team.
Hoffman now moves onto the Academic All-America ballot. CoSIDA will announce Academic All-America teams June 22-25.
