CASAL MONASTERO: A NEW LOOK FOR THE SUBURBS

Rome, May 17, 2022, 3 pm

IC Via Poppea Sabina, Viale Ratto delle Sabine 3

Agendanda

From organic textiles and bioplastics to the development of cloths with a low environmental impact, sensors for vegetable gardens to digital manufacturing projects for urban furnishings to improve neighbourhoods. These are just a few of the challenges faced by the project at IC Via Poppea Sabina in Casal Monastero, where students will be involved in the discovery of alternative and innovative materials, tools and processes to create a greener future together.

Moreover, in the Satellite Innovation Gym developed at the Liceo artistico Enzo Rossi, an original course, developed in collaboration with the Masters in Fashion Studies at Sapienza University of Rome, allows students to fully explore the issue of sustainable fashion. Coaches and university researchers will teach the students to use new technology for the development of ethical and intelligent items of clothing and accessories, as well as to develop new skills for these professional sectors that are rapidly expanding.

The project, conceived to reduce inequality in one of Rome's most complicated suburbs, can be adapted to specific contexts with the objective of promoting and leveraging the strengths of each community.

By promoting digital skills for local innovation and the co-development and adoption of e-government services in the suburbs, the project aims to promote the concept of a sustainable smart city, which, thanks to digital tools, leaves no one behind. Schools have been entrusted with a central role for the inclusive development of communities with a high rate of social distress.

The event will open with the musical band of the Liceo Enzo Rossi and continue with addresses by Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale; Stefania Forte, School Director, IC Via Poppea Sabina; Mariano Angelucci, President of the Permanent Commission for Tourism, Fashion and international Relations for the City of Rome and Councillor, City of Rome; Riccardo Corbucci, President of the "Roma Capitale, Statute and Technological Innovation" Commission; Massimiliano Umberti, President of Rome's Municipio IV; Alfonso Molina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale; Romana Andò, Director of the Masters in Fashion Studies, Sapienza University of Rome; Danilo Vicca, Director, Liceo Enzo Rossi.
