Victoria Blinder Awarded Funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

Victoria Blinder, MD, FASCO, medical oncologist, was awarded funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) on behalf of the Alliance NCTN Foundation . The inaugural funding awards from the PCORI will support patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research on cancer, heart failure, asthma, migraine prevention, and more. Dr. Blinder's funded project titled, "Longitudinal Screening for Financial Hardship to Improve Outcomes in Patients with Advanced Cancer" will assess the value of remote digital screening for financial hardship to improve patient-centered outcomes in patients with cancer.

James Smithy Honored with the 2024 Young Investigator Award by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Foundation

James Smithy, MD, MHS, melanoma oncologist and cellular therapist, received the 2024 Young Investigator Award (YIA) by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Foundation (NCCN). The annual awards honor promising new oncology researchers from across NCCN's Member Institutions. Dr. Smithy was awarded for his research titled, "A phrase 2 trial of IO102/IO103 and Nivolumab-Relatlimab Fixed-dose Combination in Previously Untreated, Unresectable Melanoma."

Michel Sadelain Awarded the Canada Gairdner International Award by the Gairdner Foundation

Michel Sadelain, MD, PhD, renowned physician-scientist, Director of the Center for Cell Engineering and Stephen and Barbara Friedman Chair, received a Canada Gairdner International Award by the Gairdner Foundation. The award recognizes outstanding researchers whose unique scientific contributions have increased the understanding of human biology and disease.

Urvi Shah Honored with the Clinical Research Early Career Award by the American Association for Cancer Research

Urvi Shah, MD, myeloma specialist, was awarded the Clinical Research Early Career Award by the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR). The award recognizes outstanding early career investigators who have authored peer-reviewed, original articles published in Clinical Cancer Research that have made a significant impact in one or more of the fields represented by the Journal. Dr. Shah was awarded for her article titled, "Sustained minimal residual disease negativity in Multiple Myeloma is associated with stool butyrate and healthier plant-based diets."

Mark Kris to be Honored at the Lung Cancer Research Foundation Evening of Innovation Gala This September

Mark Kris, MD, thoracic oncologist and William and Joy Ruane Chair in Thoracic Oncology, will be honored during the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF)'s third annual Evening of Innovation Gala happening on September 24, 2024. Honorees are chosen by the LDCRF in recognition of an individual whose support of the organization and the field of lung cancer research is unparalleled, and someone who exemplifies the spirit of LCRF to improve the lives of persons with lung cancers through research.

Dennis Chi Awarded the Society of Gynecologic Oncology Lifetime Achievement Award

Dennis Chi, MD, FACOG, FACS, Ronald O. Perelman Chair in Gynecologic Surgery, deputy chief of the Gynecology Service, and the head of Ovarian Cancer Surgery in the Department of Surgery, was honored with the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) Lifetime Achievement Award. SGO awards individuals whose efforts have made an impact on the prevention, care, and treatment of gynecologic cancers.
