Rep. Robin Kelly Secures $1,525,250 for Chicago Community Projects

Hyde Park, IL -U.S. Representative Robin Kelly (IL-02) announced the approval of $1,525,250 in federal funding for projects in Chicago. This funding allocation is part of the Fiscal Year 2024 government appropriationspackage.

Rep. Kelly secured investments for the following projects:

  • $500,000is allocated for the Chicago Park District as part of its Jackson Park Historic Burnham Building Restoration Project. These funds will be used to renovate the building's roof and restrooms and provide new site amenities.
  • $500,000is allocated for the Department of Housing, City of Chicago as part of its Chicago Neighborhood Rebuild Program. The funding will be used to help to both identify and rehabilitate more blighted buildings in areas of housing demand in the general area of South Chicago and target the communities of South Shore, Calumet Heights, Pullman, Chatham, Roseland, and South Chicago.
  • $525,250is allocated for UCAN's Riverdale Community Center which serves as a staging ground for their outreach work in Chicago's Roseland community. UCAN strives to build strong youth and families through compassionate healing, education, and empowerment. Included in this work is UCAN's Violence Intervention & Prevention Services (VIPS) program, which works in Chicago neighborhoods most impacted by poverty and violence.
