Oui monsieur! Care home brings the South of France to Solihull

A care home in Solihull celebrated Bastille Day by bringing the South of France to Solihull with a French themed garden party.

Residents at Care UK's Blossomfield Grange, on Worcester Way, enjoyed cheese, wine and French music to celebrate Bastille Day, a day which sparked the French Revolution in 1789 and today represents the unity of the French people.

Starting the day in true French fashion, the home's talented Head Chef organised pastries and coffee in the home's bistro, before later preparing a French themed lunch which included a selection of cheeses, olives, salad, grapes, and wine. The resident's enjoyed the special lunch sitting in the home's garden which had been adorned with French flags.

For resident, Barbara, who used to live in France, the event provided the perfect opportunity to reminisce about her time spent in the country. Another resident, Jean, commented: "It was lovely to have the cheese and wine event in the garden - the warm weather felt like we were actually in France!"

Anne Gaffney, General Manager at Blossomfield Grange, said: "Setting sail to the garden, we really made the most of the recent sunshine with our fantastic garden party.

"Our French-themed event created the perfect setting to encourage residents to reminisce - it was fantastic to hear their stories about their favourite family holidays spent travelling around the world. Our decorations, costumes and food certainly made the experience even more immersive; the team really did a fantastic job bringing the South of France to Solihull.

"We look forward to creating more memorable and imaginative activities for the residents to enjoy this summer. Long may the sunshine remain!"

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Blossomfield Grange, which remains open to potential residents, incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The building has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
